Material & Finish Options

Choosing the correct wire material is just as critical as the size dimension.

High Carbon Steel

Offers maximum tensile strength and durability. Ideal for heavy-duty applications where the pin must withstand high tension without bending.

Solid Brass

Completely rust-proof and highly resistant to corrosion. Perfect for marine environments, humid climates, and premium garment retail.

Nickel-Plated Finish

Provides a bright, smooth, and corrosion-resistant surface. The standard finish for most industrial and commercial safety pins.

Golden & Black Finishes

Decorative finishes applied over steel or brass, commonly used in fashion, retail tagging, and specialized crafts.

Industry Recommendations

Which size should you buy for your specific industry?

Garment Manufacturing

Sizes 0 and 1 are the global standard for garment tagging, altering, and bundling.

Commercial Laundry

Sizes 3 and 4 in Solid Brass are mandatory to prevent rust during high-temperature washing.

Retail Packaging

Sizes 000 and 00 offer an unobtrusive, elegant fastener for premium price tags.

Textile Mills

Sizes 2 and 3 offer the required strength to pierce and hold thick woven fabrics securely.

Technical Sizing FAQs

What is the most common safety pin size for clothing?
Size 1 (32mm / 1.25") and Size 2 (38mm / 1.5") are the most universally utilized sizes in the apparel industry for general fastening and tailoring.
Do you manufacture custom safety pin sizes?
Yes. As a primary manufacturer, we can adjust our wire-drawing and coiling machines to produce custom lengths and wire gauges to suit your specific OEM requirements.
What is wire gauge and why does it matter?
Wire gauge refers to the thickness of the metal wire. A thicker gauge (e.g., 1.20mm) provides immense strength for heavy canvas, while a thinner gauge (e.g., 0.55mm) prevents visible holes in delicate silk.
Which size should I use for heavy fabrics or upholstery?
For heavy textiles, canvas, or upholstery, we strongly recommend Size 3 (46mm) or Size 4 (54mm) due to their thicker wire gauge and higher tensile strength.
Are the metric and imperial measurements exact?
Our manufacturing tolerances are extremely tight (±0.5mm), but minor variations can occur. The metric (mm) measurements are our primary manufacturing standard.
What is the difference between Size 00 and 000?
Size 000 is our smallest standard pin at 19mm, ideal for tiny tags. Size 00 is slightly larger at 23mm, offering a bit more handling ease while remaining very discreet.
